Faeries Note Card Set

I was in the scrap room just about all day yesterday and got six cards made! Woo-hoo! Two of them are for two other DTs I'm on, and the other four are a really cool set of "Faeries" note cards which I made as an inspiration project to coincide with this month's Blockheads Paper Arts Challenge - Bleach Technique Blog Hop which I am hosting! More bleaching fun - you've got to check it out! I used two stamps (the bugle-blowing fairy and sentiment) from the Blockheads Whimsical-Faerie Wings stamp set. I absolutely love this set - it's so much fun to work with! I embossed her, which was the first time I've ever wet embossed anything as large as this, so I was pleased that I got fairly decent Versamark coverage! I bleached her wings then colored them a different color on each card, to coordinate with the background piece which I dry embossed and sanded to bring out the white core. I originally planned to bleach the embossed areas but it just didn't look right, so I ended up sanding them instead! Whatever works! :)

For each card, I stamped the fairy on cardstock with Versamark and embossed it with a coordinating color of embossing powder. I cut out the image in a rectangular shape and cut the corners with my Tonic ticket punch, then bleached the wings using a Fantastix brush point tip applicator and household bleach in a small dish. After the bleach was dry, I colored the wings in a contrasting color with Marvy Uchida brush tip water-based markers, then hit it with a Sakura stardust pen. I then mounted the image on white cardstock that I had sponged the edges of with antique linen distress ink. I cut my card base from white cardstock, cut the corners with the Tonic ticket punch and sponged the edges with antique linen distress ink. I cut a background piece of cardstock (coordinating the color with the fairy wings), cut the corners with the Tonic ticket punch and ran it through the Big Shot with the Cuttlebug Swirls embossing folder. I opened the embossing folder and while the cardstock was still on the impressed side, I sanded the surface of the embossed areas. I adhered ribbon (using 1/8" Blockheads Tacky Red Tape) angled across the right lower corner of the embossed background piece, then adhered the unit to the card base. I stamped the "Faeries" sentiment in Memento tuxedo black ink on white cardstock, cut it out using a Spellbinders petite scalloped oval die and embossed it, then sponged antique linen distress ink while it was still in the die. I popped it out of the die and mounted it on the right lower corner with dimensional pads. I then crafted three rolled flowers from the same cardstock used for the background and mounted them on the left lower corner. I finished the cards with either pearls or bling in the left upper corner. The inside of each card is blank.

The 2 Sisters Challenge #81 this week is a Recipe challenge - 1 image, 2 patterned papers and 3 embellishments - sponsored by the wonderful Stitchy Bear Stamps. I chose the sultry "Ivy Fairy" digi image by Delicious Doodles for my first DT inspiration card. OMG - is she a vixen or what?! I could be her! Hahahaha - just kidding! What fun this was! I think I followed the recipe fairly well... I interpreted it to mean 3 kinds of embellishments - rolled flower, ribbon and bling... with bling being gemstones and pearls. ;)

Inspire

I wanted to get one more Blockheads Paper Arts DT inspiration project in before the end of the month, so I took the day off to stay home to scrap! I had plans of making several cards today, but only one has materialized. My morning ended up being very busy running several unexpected errands, so I didn't get into the scrap room until almost noon. But that's okay - it's been a good day anyway!

I created my collage "Inspire" card with several Blockheads stamps and my own unique background. I was experimenting, like I do quite often, with some lilac spray ink on some textured cardstock with some sort of coating. It has almost a waxy feeling and has somewhat of a shine to it but it's not glossy cardstock. The ink beaded up on it and wasn't seeming to dry, even after hitting it with my heat tool, so I decided to put some clear embossing powder on it and emboss it. Even after embossing it, the beaded spots were still a little wet so I blotted it with a paper towel, applied a little more clear embossing powder and embossed it again. This time the beaded spots were almost completely dry, so blotting it a second time did the trick. What an awesome background it made for my card!

I stamped the beautiful Chloe Collage image on white cardstock with Memento Paris Dusk ink. I then stamped the ink spots with spun sugar distress ink randomly over top the Chloe Collage, and the butterflies with rusty hinge overlayed with mustard seed distress inks over top the Chloe Collage. The ink spots and butterflies are two of my favorites in the Blockheads 123 Backgrounds-Butterflies stamp set. I highlighted the butterflies with a Sakura stardust pen. I stamped another set of butterflies on white cardstock, highlighted with Sakura stardust pen, and cut them all out. I bent the wings and attached them on top of the ones stamped on the Chloe Collage. I stamped a moth on white cardstock with fired brick distress ink and colored it with orange and yellow Copics, cut it out and mounted it toward the bottom of the Chloe Collage. I cut three rolled flowers out of white cardstock and sprayed them with terra cotta spray ink, and when they were dry I mounted them on the bottom left of the Chloe Collage. I applied a strip of tissue tape under a piece of ribbon diagonally across the top left corner of the background and adhered the Chloe Collage on the background. I then adhered a double-looped bow on the center of the ribbon on the upper left corner of the collage, pinned a tiny safety pin in the center and knotted a mini pearl strand on it. I finished the card by adhering an embossed "Inspire" tag that I had in my stash on the bottom right.

It's that time again... time to post my second DT inspiration card for this week's 2 Sisters Challenge #80 - Anything Goes, sponsored by The Digi Garden and The Greeting Farm! I chose the super cute "Kissy Kissy" digital image from The Greeting Farm for this card. I totally love this image! I made an engagement or wedding Congrats card done in white with a splash of Williamsburg blue, which I absolutely love, and a touch of gray. I didn't make the standard 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 size card this time - I made a 5 x 5 instead. I used a couple new toys - Cuttlebug Heart Blocks embossing folder for the background, and Spellbinders square Fleur de Lis die to frame the focal image. I love the way it turned out!

Take Flight

I'm very pleased and honored to be hosting this month's Blockheads Paper Arts Challenge - Bleach Technique Blog Hop! This is my first time hosting a challenge and it's going to be so much fun seeing what everyone creates! My "Take Flight" card was very simple - created basically with a stamped image, embossing powder, household bleach and water-based markers. One wouldn't ordinarily think of using bleach on a craft project, but when carefully used on dark cardstock, the results will amaze you!

The gorgeous moth stamp is from the Blockheads Whimsical-Take Flight stamp set. After stamping, embossing, bleaching and coloring (see tutorial here), I cut out the image with a classic rectangles Spellbinders die, then cut a frame from red DCWV shimmer cardstock with Spellbinders classic rectangles and big scalloped rectangles dies. I cut my card base from kraft cardstock. I embossed a piece of textured yellow cardstock with a Cuttlebug Forest Branches embossing folder, rounded the corners with a Crop-A-Dile corner chomper and mounted it on a piece of black cardstock with rounded corners. I adhered a piece of red velvet ribbon along the left edge with Blockheads Tacky Red Tape, and crafted a bow from the same ribbon. Unfortunately I got a tiny speck of glue on the center of the bow, so I had to cover it up! I attached a small strip of Tim Holtz idea-ology Sketchbook tissue tape to cover that tiny speck of glue and then adhered the bow vertically to the ribbon. I adhered the moth image to the embossed yellow background piece and then attached the red shimmer cardstock frame over top of the image with dimensional pads. I stamped the "Take Flight" sentiment, from the Blockheads Whimsical-Faerie Wings stamp set, on kraft cardstock, cut it in a rectangle shape and mounted it on black cardstock, then mounted it on the front of the card at the bottom of the scalloped frame. I finished the front of the card with some tiny clear gemstones on the sentiment block and three larger black gemstones in the upper left corner.

For the inside, I stamped the moth definition, also from the Blockheads Whimsical-Take Flight stamp set, on a piece of yellow textured cardstock and mounted it on black cardstock, then adhered it vertically inside the card.

Fun Backgrounds Created With "Framed Flowers" Crafters Workshop Template

I've been in the scrap room playing today... creating different backgrounds for the Blockheads Paper Arts DT using the "Framed Flowers" Crafters Workshop Template from Blockheads Papers Arts and several kinds of media - micro marbles, flock, alcohol inks and silver spray glitter! Woo-hoo! What fun this has been! I'm super stoked to share these with you! This template is awesome and the possibilities are endless! I've also used spray walnut ink, brayered paint and sponged distress ink with this Framed Flower template with great results.

This first one was done with MICRO MARBLES:

I laid the template on a piece of white cardstock, then pressed the Tsukineko Essential Glue Pad onto the template while carefully holding it down on the edges so it didn't slide around, and made sure all the open areas of the template got good and gooey with the glue. I then turned the template around and positioned it on the other half of the cardstock and did the same thing on the other side. I carefully removed the template and applied Blockheads metallic seafoam micro marbles on one end, Blockheads metallic pink micro marbles in the middle and Blockheads metallic lavender micro marbles on the other end. I gently but firmly pressed them down so they'd stick, then sprinked some clear embossing powder over the entire surface and hit it with the heat tool to seal it. OMG - I love the way this turned out and can't wait to create a card with it!

The next one was done with FLOCK:

I laid the template on a piece of white cardstock, then pressed the Tsukineko Essential Glue Pad onto the template while carefully holding it down on the edges so it didn't slide around, and made sure all the open areas of the template got good and gooey with the glue. I then turned the template around and positioned it on the other half of the cardstock and did the same thing on the other side. I carefully removed the template and applied Recollections Coral, Cherry, Horizon and Cricket flock. I gently but firmly pressed it down so it would stick. This turned out SO awesome! ;)

The next one was done with ALCOHOL INKS:

I applied a piece of felt to my Tim Holtz applicator and put a two-second spot of five different Ranger Adirondack inks - sunset orange, sunshine yellow, purple twilight, cranberry and gold mixative - onto the applicator. I laid the template on a piece of white glossy cardstock and randomly stamped the spot-inked applicator all over the template while carefully holding it down on the edges so it didn't slide around, being sure to cover all the open areas. I carefully removed the template and put a clean piece of felt on the applicator with a four-second spot of Ranger Adirondack alcohol blending solution and dabbed it all over the surface to mix the inks a bit. The photo shows the gold real well over on the left-hand side but in "real life" it's all over the surface and looks so cool! I really like the way this one turned out, too!

The last one was done with silver SPRAY GLITTER:

This background was super simple. I didn't rotate the template on this one - I centered it on a piece of ivory cardstock and simply burst-sprayed silver spray glitter all over the surface. I did this outside where there was good air flow. I lightly taped the template and cardstock into the center a large shallow box lid which I held vertically for good glitter coverage. This effect is super subtle and was very hard to photograph, but is absolutely gorgeous and will make a beautiful engagement or wedding card. My photograph doesn't do it justice! :/

I just love her digis - they are so fun and whimsical, and a blast to work with! "Things I Gotta Do" Dry Erase Board

OMG! I just made another really fun Blockheads Paper Arts DT inspiration project! These ladies waiting for Mr. Right are a hoot! This project was very inexpensive, didn't take long to make and didn't use a long list of supplies! I used some cardstock, two Blockheads stamps, some Blockheads Tacky Red Tape and a few other odds and ends from my stash. The only thing I purchased specifically for this project was the 5 x 7 acrylic frame and a 3-pack of dry erase markers, all for a whopping $2.50 plus tax! I would like to give StampTV credit for the dry erase board idea!

I created the "Things I Gotta Do" block on my computer and printed it in brown ink on ivory cardstock, then randomly stamped the dotted background from the Blockheads 123 Backgrounds-Butterflies stamp set with Memento rich cocoa ink all over the block, being sure to go off all four edges. I then stamped the Lost Coast Designs "Waiting For Mr. Right" stamp on the other end of the cardstock, cut them both out and matted them on brown cardstock. I then cut a 5 x 7 piece of base-weight ivory cardstock to fit the frame, adhered the lovely ladies on the top and the write-in block on the bottom, then slipped the unit into the frame. I sprayed off-white ribbon with walnut ink to get it nice and brown to match the project and let it dry. Once it was dry, I adhered a strip of the ribbon across the front with 1/8" Blockheads Tacky Red Tape. This is some awesome stuff that's made for adhering beads, micro marbles and such (it's very tacky and very transparent) but works very well adhering sheer ribbon. I fashioned a bow out of this same dyed ribbon, affixed a clock charm to it with a brad, and adhered it to the strip of ribbon. I finished the project with three chocolate flat-back pearls on the upper left and three more on the lower right portion of the ladies stamp.

It's time to post another DT inspiration card for this week's 2 Sisters Challenge! The time is just flying by - we're on the downhill toward the end of February already! It'll be Christmas again before we know it! Hahaha! The theme for 2 Sisters Challenge #79 is Stitching (real or faux) and is sponsored by the wonderful Robyn's Fetish! They really do have some of the neatest digis to work with, and I chose "Cabin in the Woods" for my card this week. I knew right off the bat that I was going to do some sort of masculine card with this awesome image, and wound up doing a Father's Day card! I distressed it a good bit to give it that manly woodsy feel, did some haphazard stitching (suitable for a man), and of course left off the ribbon, bow and most of the bling! I like it!

I'm back with my second DT inspiration card for 2 Sisters Challenge #78, sponsored by Digi Doodle Shop. The theme is "I Heart You" and I chose the beautiful "Just Married" digi. I did something really daring with this card... I didn't color the image! I've never done this before, and for me, it took a lot of guts to attempt because I had no idea what I would end up with! Hahahaha! But actually, I'm pretty proud of the way it turned out! I stuck with a semi-monochromatic color scheme of black/white with a splash of red, pink and silver.

Sending Smiles Across The Miles Mini Pizza Box

Among all the fun festivities over at The Cafter's Cafe this past weekend, was a Chat N Craft Saturday evening where everyone made mini pizza boxes together in real time! I have to say, this is the first pizza box I've ever made and it was so easy, thanks to Beate's tutorial over at Splitcoast Stampers! Check it out - you can make two of these adorable mini pizza boxes out of one piece of 12 x 12 paper!

I made mine with white, bright yellow and orange cardstock, and made my own background paper with a randomly stamped flower colored with Copics. And of course, I used some more my new fav rolled flowers, and perched a colorful butterfly in front of the flowers! I love the way it turned out - what a great little gift box!

High Heel Shoe!

Well, what's a girl with a shoe fetish to do? Craft a paper shoe! This is my first-ever attempt at a shoe, for a Blockheads Paper Arts DT inspiration project, and I'm so tickled at how well it turned out! OMG - what fun this was! I love my Blockheads stamps and this was the perfect project to use several of them!

The shoe template is by Ellen Hutson. I cut the pieces from sturdy brown cardstock. I stamped the shoe body with Memento rich cocoa ink and the dot design background stamp from the Blockheads 123 Backgrounds-Butterflies stamp set. I wanted a definite but subtle pattern with the brown ink on brown cardstock. I stamped random butterflies across the toe portion with Versamark and a butterfly stamp from the Blockheads Whimsical-Take Flight stamp set, then embossed them in gold. I assembled the shoe - this took me a little while since I had never done a project like this before! I covered the sole with a piece of textured gold-brown lightweight cardstock. I made a rolled flower out of the same brown cardstock that the shoe was made from and attached it to the toe, along with three gemstones. I decorated the inside of the shoe with a long black swirl flourish, gold vellum handmade flowers, and three small butterflies from the Blockheads 123 Backgrounds-Butterflies stamp set that I stamped on brown cardstock with Versamark, embossed in gold and then cut out. I finished the shoe by defining the top of the heel with two small strips of faux suede. The finished measurements of this amazing shoe are 6-1/2" long, 3-3/4" high and 1-1/2" wide.

The theme for this week's 2 Sisters Challenge #78 is "I Heart You" and is sponsored by Digi Doodle Shop. I've done a number of Valentine cards over the last couple weeks and decided to focus on Mother's Day for my DT inspiration card. I used the beautiful digi image "Heart Felt Roses." I'm still battling this nasty head cold and have fallen a little behind with my half-finished DT inspiration projects, but I'm determined to get ahead, so I'm working diligently! It's rare that I create a card without a layered/matted background but I did so with this one to try to focus on the scalloped chipboard circle frame which I sponged with red and pink, then dotted with gold alcohol ink. I think it turned out pretty nice and sure reminds me of my dear Mother who is no longer with us, as her favorite color was red and her favorite flower was a rose. I love you, Mom!

This is my second inspiration card for The Crafter's Cafe Blog Hop using the sweet "Love Birds" image from A Creative Need. I distressed the edges of all the layered pieces and sanded the embossed piece to give this a woodsy feel. I like the way it turned out! I was just too pooped last night to get it on the blog, so I saved it for today to make the fun last just a tad longer! Be Mine Or Else

This past weekend was awesome - I attended the Heirloom Paper Arts Festival in Lawrenceville, GA, with my older sister (a fellow stamper/cardmaker) and one of my best friends. We had a blast! My sister goes every year but this is the first one I've been to, and we're already making plans to go next year! They had some really awesome vendors and some of the most amazing inspiration projects at every booth!

Here's my additional DT inspiration project for this week's 2 Sisters Challenge #76, a sketch challenge sponsored by The Digi Garden. They have some of the most adorable digi images, and I chose "Casey Bow" for this inspiration card. She is so sweet! This was a fairly simple card and I used some of Gigi's (my granddaughter) new cardstock! And I used some more rolled flowers on this card. Can you tell I'm really digging these rolled flowers that can be made to match any card?! This was a really fun sketch.

If I had Wings

I thoroughly enjoyed creating this Blockheads Paper Arts DT inspiration card for the February Technique Challenge - Chalk Attraction and Blog Hop. Even though I needed to make a few practice runs, I had a good time! "If I had Wings" was super simple to make. It's definitely clean and simple, which I love, and has kind of a goth/grunge flair to it. I love the way it turned out! I used stamps from the fabulous Blockheads Whimsical - Take Flight and Whimsical - Faerie Wings stamp sets. Blockheads stamps are really awesome to work with - they are deeply etched and you get a good clean/crisp stamped image on the first try. If you are a relatively new stamper, like yours truly here (I've only been stamping since July of last year), then you really need to build your collection with Blockheads' stamps.

I created a 5 x 5 card base and distressed the edges of it with black ink. I stamped the faerie image with Versamark ink on another piece of white cardstock and chalked it with black pearlescent chalk and a small pompom. I also chalked very lightly around the entire image to create a shadow. I trimmed the chalked image square and ticket-punched the corners, matted it on black cardstock, then again on red shimmer cardstock. I created a strip of red and black micro marbles (mixed together) adhered to Terrifically Tacky Tape mounted on white cardstock, then again on black cardstock, then I mounted the entire strip horizontally-centered across the card base. I stamped the sentiment with black ink on white cardstock, then mounted it on black cardstock. I affixed two tiny clear gemstones to each end of the sentiment strip as well as all four corners of the focal image piece, then I adhered tiny red gemstones to the faerie's dress. I mounted the entire focal image piece onto the card base with dimensional squares, and then mounted the sentiment onto the bottom of the focal image piece with dimensional squares.

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, what kind of card could be more fitting than a Valentine? I've been looking forward to using this adorable "Winter Time Smoochie" digi image from The Stamping Boutique. I've had her for several weeks and have been waiting to make just the right card! I’ve been having so much fun in the scrap room… you just wouldn’t believe it! I'm back with another Blockheads Paper Arts DT inspiration project, a CAS card created with the awesome (did I say awesome?!) Lost Coast Designs Cubist Silhouette stamp! This stamp has gorgeous detail! I absolutely love clean and simple. And this card was relatively easy and only used a few items from my stash.

I stamped the silhouette on ivory cardstock, then mounted it on black and again on cranberry. The 'Love You So' sentiment was stamped on black cardstock, embossed with ivory embossing powder, cut out with a Spellbinders die, then mounted on the lower edge of the silhouette stamp. I added some tiny red gemstones to the sentiment circle, then finished the card with some black flat-back pearls and a red rose.

I love paper piecing but don’t do it often enough because I generally don’t have the luxury of time. I created this really cute birthday card with the paper piecing technique and I love how it turned out. I got the cutest set of The Hatters digi stamps from Little Miss Muffet and had the best time creating a set of note cards with them! I used basically the same CAS design but different colors and sentiments for each note card. They are so stinkin’ cute! I think I’ll make a pizza box with an acetate window and a few flower embellishments on the top to put them in to give as a gift!

Take Flight

As a new Blockheads Paper Arts Design Team member, I'm really proud to present my first DT project, a mixed-media distressed grunge card, created with several Blockheads stamps, a Crafter's Workshop template, some ink, embossing and embellishments! OMG - I was in hog heaven with so many ideas running through my head! This was too much fun!

I created my background with walnut ink sprayed onto the flower frame template, then the stamped the dot design and ink spot backgrounds in green and blue inks. I stamped the moth on kraft cardstock, embossed it, gave the wings just a splash of color, cut it out and sponged it with ink, then added wire antennae. I added a strip of metallic blue micro marbles adhered to 1/4" Terrifically Tacky Tape. I stamped the 'Take Flight' sentiment onto kraft cardstock, then tore it out and inked the edges. I added a white pearl flourish, mounted the sentiment and the moth, then finished the card with some twine and gemstones. I think it turned out pretty cool!

This is my second inspiration card for this week's 2 Sisters Challenge #74 - Use Metal. I used the gorgeous "Hummingbird" digi from Digi Doodle Shop for the focal image, and had a grand time coloring it with my Copics. I used two of my favorite color combinations for the card - teal blue and purple. I tried out a new large scallop border die that I just got from Sweet N Sassy Stamps. My metal embellishments include a 'Thank You!' charm and some silver flat-back pearls.

For this card I'm using the beautiful Floppy Latte digi image "Butterfly Solace." I love butterflies and really enjoyed making this card, as the image is so magical! I used a couple digital papers and my ever-favorite copics and Sakura stardust pen. I sponged a white paper lace doily with antique linen distress ink, off-set it behind the focal image and layered some pink roses and bling on top of it for a slight vintage look.

OMG! I admit that I am a purse freak! And I love animal print! I had some black crocodile paper in my stash that I was dying to use. This little purse was so much fun because I used lots of my favorite things to make it. It's about as girlie girl as it gets with the red roses, flourishes, ribbon, pearls and bling! I even hand-cut the scallops on the front flap! I added a tiny punched flower to the button closure on the front, then filled in the indention with JudiKins diamond glaze, which turned out really neat. I also dotted Liquid Pearls onto the flourishes to girlie them up a bit! Happy 2nd birthday to Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenge!

Happy New Year, everybody! Welcome 2012! I don't think there's a better way to bring in the new year than being in the scrap room making cards! It's hard to believe that we have begun another new year. Remember at the end of 1999 when everyone thought their computers were going to crash at midnight with the start of the new millenium?! These last 12 years have literally flown by. I wish everyone an awesome 2012 filled with peace, love, good health and prosperity!! XOXO

I used some fun techniques on this card - created a background with a tiny Celebrate stamp (with a floating frame around one of them), stippled linen folk art paint onto the left side, cut flourishes with my Cricut Expression and Wall Decor and More cartridge, and stamped the Happy New Year sentiment with a huge old-fashioned type dial alphabet stamp (remember them?!). And I just happened to have a bottle of champagne and two glasses in my embellishment stash and I coated the glasses with JudiKins diamond glaze!

Well, now the hustle and bustle and Christmas is over with and we need to start thinking about those thank you cards. I did spend a little time in the scrap room this past weekend and got one of my thank you cards made using a sweeeeet Little Miss Muffet digi image named "Saffron." She is new and was a freebie last week - I was so lucky to have gotten her and couldn't wait to make a card with her! I love shaker cards but I just don't take the time (usually) to make them. But I did this weekend! They really are a lot simpler than they seem. For this card, I used an adorable Little Miss Muffet digi called "Adela and Dida" and used lots of bling on the flourishes along with Marble Shazam Rox gemstones on the focal image itself. I cut out two of the wings to make the shaker, and filled it with sparkly purple and gold seed beads. It turned out so cute!

Well, she's done it again... Gina of StampTV has created the easiest gift card holder and the tutorial is on StampTV's website for all to see and be inspired to create! I normally create my own designs, but I did use Gina's base gift card holder design. I love them - I created four little wallets in about 30 minutes! Gina gives the measurements of all the pieces and once they are cut, it's a breeze assembling them! What fun! I'm going to give my kids and their significant others cash in these adorable little treasures and used the cutest Ho Ho Ho paper (with matching/coordinating plaid paper) - two in red and two in green - from my stash along with a digital "Christmas Wishes" sentiment I created on my computer and cut out with a Spellbinders die. And they don't have to be just for the holidays... they can be for any occasion!

OMG! I found the cuuuuutest Little Miss Muffet digi image a few days ago! Her name is Bailey - and I think you'll agree she is adorable! I've been at since early (and I mean early) this morning and I need to get some things done around the house, so this will be it for a few hours anyway! Hehehe! I know it's the holidays and I've made several holiday cards, so I switched it up a little and made a get well card. It's so nice to give someone a bright and cheery - although monochromatic in this case - card to cheer them up! And a little ribbon and bow never hurts either! Definitely not very masculine, though! And I stamped on tissue paper which is something I've never done before, but it turned out kind of neat!

I really love the vintage look, I guess because I could be considered vintage myself! Hahahaha! I remember when I was in the first grade, we were studying fossils, and I asked my Dad if I could take him to school for show and tell! Thank goodness he had a wonderful sense of humor! That reminds me, too, of when my daughter was about 5 or 6, she asked me if everything was black and white when I was a child! Fortunately, I have my Dad's sense of humor! At any rate, I thoroughly enjoyed putting this card together - it started my day off perfectly! I even dyed my ribbon to match the card!

Paper Roses Bouquet

The paper roses bouquet I made several months ago for my granddaughter to give to her mother (my daughter) for Mother's Day has come up in conversation several times over the last couple weeks, so I decided to post some pictures. It really did turn out beautiful, and my daughter was just tickled! She still has them proudly displayed in her living room!

I got my inspiration from watching the paper roses tutorial on Card Making Magic. Christina does a wonderful job of teaching and makes everything look so easy! You really need to go to her site and just look around, but make sure you have plenty of time because there's plenty to look at! It's pretty awesome! :)

Recipe:

Two bunches of silk roses from local craft store, 8 roses on each bunch (carefully remove silk roses and attach paper ones)
1-3/8" round punch to create a five-petal template
Plenty of paper scraps in all different colors and patterns
Vase
Flat stones to fill vase and hide rose stems

Well, I've been at it again this morning! I went to bed last night with all kinds of ideas running through my head for a way to wrap a gift card and use a tag... and I think my wallet (aka gift card holder) turned out pretty neat - it kind of has a vintage feel to it! It's done in kraft, red and brown, with an embossed dimensional flower mounted on a die-cut circle, faded background text watermark on brown cardstock, some very cool hemp ribbon/bow and a tag attached with a tiny ball chain! OMG! Too much fun! I also tried a new bleaching technique on this project I saw on a StampTV tutorial, which I really enjoyed!

I'm feelin' good! I got a lot accomplished today - stamping, scrapping, more stamping, more scrapping and laundry - while my hubby worked. I almost felt guilty that I was playing while he was working, but I did get all the laundry done, so that made up for it! ;) I really, really like the way this card turned out! I love pink and black together, and I love butterflies - and this one looks like she's fluttering right off the card! I used two awesome black and white papers from the GKD Basic Wardrobe digital paper pack, five of my trusty Spellbinders dies (I don't think I could live without them!), plus I got some Copics coloring practice! I love making thank-you cards because I appreciate the nice things that people do, and I love to show it by wowing them with an awesome card!

Woo-hoo! I found some time today to make a couple cards! It's been about a week and a half, and I've been jones-ing to scrap! Hahaha! OMG! This little mini album was sooooo much fun to make! It can accommodate up to ten photos. It's made from tiny paper bags (pockets) attached together with two small 'O' rings, with pull-out tags in each pocket. The bags and tags are decorated with scraps of paper, and no two are alike! Can be used for either gender, and could certainly be personalized with the recipient's name, favorite color or hobby! And have the recipient give you ten of his/her favorite photos to crop and place in the album for him/her! What fun!! :D

This CAS card was very easy to make and the result very gratifying! The all-white (except for a splash of color in the focal image) card is just simply elegant! I scored some diagonal and horizontal lines on the card base, used two stamps from the Gina K Designs Various Verses stamp set and a couple Marvy Brush Markers, used two Spellbinders dies to mount the focal image, glued on a bow (one with a white bow for one challenge and one with a pink bow for another challenge), and that was it! It couldn't get much easier!

Okay, I guess it's the kid in me, but I had a blast making a tree-shaped Christmas card which was all white except for a splash of non-traditional Christmas colors allowed only on the image! I used an adorable "Sugar N Spice" digi from Jen's Digi Stamps - the Friday Freebie this week! I smiled the entire time it took me to color them with my Copics! I even sprinkled glitter on wet Sakura white glaze to sparkle like snowflakes! This was soooo much fun! :)

OMG! I thoroughly enjoyed myself making this card! I have found some gorgeous gingham digital papers and used two of them on this card, along with some great Echo Park and Gina K Designs patterned paper. I used the "cracked glass" technique - one of my all-time favs - for the focal image. I used four different Spellbinders dies. I created some gingham flowers, inked a small round paper doily and added some pearls and gemstones. Great fun!

Okay, when I found this Paper Pretties Fan-tastic digi image, I fell in love and knew I had to make some sort of adorable card with a fan on it! Another gorgeous Paper Pretties digi - crocuses! I am patting myself on the back with my Copics coloring on this one - probably the best coloring I've done yet! Woo-hoo! I have really gotten into digital papers here lately, and this aqua-colored honeycomb paper is to die for! I love adding buttons to cards because there doesn't have to be any rhyme or reason for a button - they add elegance or cuteness or whatever look you're trying to achieve. The latest Touch Twin Marker Challenge is a color challenge using melon yellow, olive green, brick brown and rose red. I've won a few Touch Twin markers sporadically over the last couple months but none of these colors, and I can't find them locally, so I'm using my Copics and matching the colors as best I can! Happy weekend, everybody! I finished another card today for the StampTV Free For All Friday Challenge - CASE the DT (Donna Baker)! Donna is a hard act to follow, but I chose her "You're Cool Beans" card to CASE. It was a lot of fun and I even used the same cardstock she used from the Gina K Designs Falling For You stamp kit! Gotcha, Donna! Part of the challenge was to change two or more things, so I mounted the sentiment on a Spellbinders lacey oval and offset it, I did starburst sponging around the coffee grinder and I added some bling.

In honor of World Card Making Day on October 1st, Flourishes is putting on a Wacky World Card Making Day Eve Challenge! To play this color challenge, cardmakers are to think like a kid and share their favorite animated character, and make a card that's inspired by the colors in a photograph of that character. My all-time favorite animated character is Scooby-Doo, and I've chosen an internet picture of one of the many "scary" scenes with Scooby and Shaggy to inspire my "Sole Mate" card which is done in shades of blue and brown. OMG! Charmed Cards & Crafts is putting on the most AMAZING Blog Candy Giveaway that I have ever seen! It's running until November 1st and the requirement is to use a digital or stamped image that has been colored in, so I entered my Thanksgiving gift bag into the Charmed Cards & Crafts Mega Mega Mega Candy Giveway. For the focal image, I used stamps from the Gina K Designs Heartfelt stamp set and I layered the flowers for a 3-D effect. I am still shaking my head at this gift!! If I could only be so lucky...

A Happy Hello gift bag

Wow - the Timeless Tuesday #137 Challenge this week at Flourishes is so awesome! In gearing up for the holidays which are fast approaching, the requirement is to make something to adorn the holiday table. I made an adorable little Thanksgiving gift bag for each placesetting at the table; the one photographed has my daughter Angie's name on it. The idea is to give each member of the family a gift bag (with their name on it) that has something special in it just for him or her since I'm so thankful to have them all together at the same table! It doesn't happen often enough! At this point, I haven't decided exactly what I'll put in them - either treats or some sort of small gift. :D

I attemped Joan Bardee's "Copic + Distress Ink + Water = Color!" technique on my focal point image. I modified the technique a bit by using Bic Mark-It alcohol-based markers rather than copics because I've just begun collecting copics and I don't have very many of them yet! My image didn't turn out quite as "water-colory" as Joan's - probably because of the difference in markers - but I think it turned out pretty nice anyway! I used stamps from the Gina K Designs Heartfelt set and layered the sunflowers for a 3-D effect.

Woo-hoo! When I logged into StampTV to check out this week's Mix It Up Monday Challenge, I saw that my card entered into the 9/19 Mix It Up Monday Challenge had been chosen as winner! I was super excited, to say the least! How 'bout another woo-hoo!!

This week's Mix It Up Monday Challenge at StampTV was very, very fun! It's an Inspiration Challenge and requires making a card inspired by the autumn/fall colors in Tami's photo. Fall is my favorite season, so I knew this was going to be an awesome challenge! My "Thank You Friend" card features embossed resist and blending of four different distress inks, and stamps from the Gina K Designs Botanicals stamp set. I really enjoyed this technique!

I entered the Touch Twin Markers' very first challenge called "Playing With Our Peeps." This challenge requires the use of some type of people image - cute, realistic or whatever the cardmaker desires. I made my "hi" card with Karber Digital image "Cocktel Deny" created by Karla Barradas. What a fun diva image! The "hi" sentiment is from the Gina K Designs Various Versus stamp set.

Last week's StampTV Free For All Friday Challenge was great fun! It was called "CASE the DT - Deb Felts." The requirement was to CASE any one of Deb's cards in her gallery and change two things. Deb has many, many wonderful creations in her gallery that would inspire anyone, and it was truly difficult to pick one card to CASE, but I chose her "Thanks So Much" card to CASE, and changed the color scheme (from red and black to pink and black) and the orientation of the three panels (from vertical to horizontal). The tag and sentiment are from the Gina K Designs All Occasion Tags stamp set. I loved this challenge!

OMG! StampTV had the most fun Shaker Cards Blog Hop called "Shake It Up Baby"! All the shaker cards were so gorgeous! I love making shaker cards so I was really digging this! I made a tri-fold "Miss You" card. The sentiment was one from the Gina K Designs Botanicals stamp set. This was awesome fun!

I entered Karber Challenge 41 - my first Karber challenge - with a "Thinking of You" card made with an ADORABLE digital image named "Coffee Leslie". I fell in love with all of their "Leslie" images! She is just too cute! The requirement for this challenge was to make a card with either a dots or stripes theme. The sentiment is from the Gina K Designs All Occasion Tags stamp set.
