With Sympathy

Good morning, everyone! June is upon us. Can you believe this year is half over already, and I have one simple question... where the heck did it go?! I'm sharing with you today a beautiful sympathy card I created as my Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog DT inspiration project for LTSCB #31 - Mind Your Banners! We're being sponsored this time by QKR Stampede and Bugaboo Digi Stamps... two wonderful sponsors and two awesome prizes! Come play with us! We just need to see banners, flags or pennants on your projects this time!

Sympathy cards are something that most of us shy away from making just because of what they represent. Death is never easy to deal with but when I saw this gorgeous Bugaboo digi, I knew what I wanted to create. I colored the image in light pinks and deep mauve colors, and added some clear Wink of Stella. I used two complimenting shades of mauve textured cardstock, then matted all the elements on black cardstock.

I punched three tiny flowers in the stitched flag die cut which I used in a vertical fashion. I just got an order of this awesome wrinkled ribbon in 11 different colors (thanks for that link, Cat!) and had the perfect mauve color to go with this cardstock. And of course I had to make a pretty double loop bow! ;)

I kept the inside fairly simple with the sentiment stamped on a scalloped die cut inked with distress ink.

Pleased to enter my sympathy card into the following challenges:

Recipe:
  • GKD Pure Luxury Ivory cardstock; medium and dark mauve textured cardstock from stash; Paper and More black cardstock
  • Bugaboo Digi Stamps Thoughts and Prayers Candle digital image
  • Copics: R00/83/85/89, YG11/63, YR15
  • Clear Wink of Stella
  • Lil Inker Designs Stitched Sentiment Flag die
  • Michaels mini flower punch
  • Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Ovals die
  • Ranger Antique Linen distress ink
  • GKD Sympathy Duo stamp set
  • Memento Tuxedo Black ink
  • Prairie Bird Boutique winkled ribbon
  • Light pink flat-back pearls

I hope you've found a little inspiration here to create a project using at least one banner, flag or pennant to enter into our challenge this time! Be sure to check out all the rubber stamps and digis at QKR Stampede, and of course the wide array of digis at Bugaboo Digi Stamps! Thanks so much for stopping by - we'll see you next time! ;)
Hugs,
Leslie

  3. Leslie, your sympathy card is absolutely stunning! The images, colours and sentiment are perfect for a card of this nature. I agree that sympathy cards are challenging to create, but yours here is precisely what such a card should be: delicate, soft, thoughtful. Gorgeous!
