My sister's new blog!

Hey y'all!

Check out my sister's new blog - No Bored Housewife Here!

Her name is Sydney and she's a retired RN who loves making cards, jewelry and quilts! She has quite a few jewelry projects on her new blog (with plans to add more stuff on a regular basis) and has given me the go ahead to "spills the beans!" ;)

Feel free to grab her badge - she'd be so tickled if you did! And she'd also be very honored if you'd become a Follower!

Feel free to take my badge

Thanks so much for taking the time to look! Keep Sydney in mind if you need any gift ideas... her prices are very reasonable!

Big hugs,

Friends are the flowers of life

I know I keep saying it, but time is just flying by! I just cannot believe it's now the middle of July! It really WILL be Christmas before we know it! ;)

I'd like to share with you my Love To Scrap! Challenge Blog DT inspiration project for Challenge #10 - Just A Bit Sketchy! Come play with us! I have always loved following sketches... cards just seem to go together flawlessly! We're using this awesome Starry Nights Studio Sketch 3!

We're being sponsored by the amazing Delicious Doodles! They graciously provided us with several images to play with, and I chose the absolutely gorgeous Floral Watering Can digi for my friendship card. The supply list is not large at all - in addition to coloring the image with a few Copics, I used three coordinating papers from the enormous Recollections Bold Basics paper pad, a Cheery Lynn French Pastry doily die cut, some green ribbon and green flat-back pearls. I'm so pleased with how it turned out!

  • Gina K Designs Pure Luxury white cardstock; Colorbok textured blue cardstock
  • 3 coordinating papers from the Recollections Bold Basics paper pad
  • Delicious Doodles Floral Watering Can digital image
  • Copics: YR04/09, Y17, G14, BV11/13, C1/3
  • Cheery Lynn French Pastry doily die
  • Sentiment stamp from the Prima Divine Collection
  • Memento Gray Flannel dew drop ink
  • Green ribbon from stash
  • Want2Scrap green flat-back pearls

I paper pieced three of the daisies to give the bouquet just a little dimension. :)

'The Siren' Earrings

I've been playing in the scrap room again... this time creating some earrings for the Love To Scrap! Challenge Blog's Challenge #9 - Anything Goes! Come play with us! We know "Anything Goes" challenges are a crowd pleaser so we try to indulge you periodically! ;)

I decided a couple weeks ago that I wanted to create something with this gorgeous Blockheads siren stamp but didn't necessarily want to make a card. I was poking around in the cabinets and spotted the Shrinky Dinks sheets. That was it... the earrings idea was born! I wanted to keep the design simple and not too flashy, which I think I accomplished. They are super lightweight and look really stunning!

I stamped the image twice on a Shrinky Dinks plastic sheet, cut the images out, hole punched them, and put them in the (preheated) toaster oven for just a minute or two. They took literally just seconds to cool, then I colored just the flowers with Bic Mark-It markers and highlighted them with a Stardust pen, and coated the pieces with Diamond Glaze. The last step involved making the bead "danglies" (another of my passions besides stamping) and affixing them to the ear wires. I had forgotten how much fun this stuff is to work with! The possibilities are endless and I can definitely see some more Shrinky Dinks jewelry creations in my future! LOL!

I'd love to enter 'The Siren' earrings into the following challenges:

  • Bright White 8-1/2 x 11 Shrinky Dinks plastic sheet
  • Blockheads Paper Arts Collage Sirens stamp set
  • Jet Black StazOn ink
  • Bic Mark-It markers in yellow, orange and red
  • Sakura Stardust pen
  • JudiKins Diamond Glaze
  • Silver, clear, and yellow heart beads; jump rings; fish-hook earring wires

I hope I've inspired you to think "outside the box" and create something different! Thanks so much for stopping by today - we'll see you next time! ;)
