Botanical Silhouette Note Card

Here is my fourth DT inspiration project that I created last evening for the current Blockheads Paper Arts Challenge - Textured Paper with Embossing Folders Technique Blog Hop!

Visit the Blockheads Emboss Paper Technique page to see Leigh's tutorial for creating awesome backgrounds using TP and an embossing folder!

For my Botanical Silhouette Note Card, I used the Lifestyle Crafts Polka Dots embossing folder with the TP for the background and sponged Ranger Dried Marigold and Wild Honey distress inks over it. I then stamped background script text in Rusty Hinge distress ink using one of the background stamps from the Blockheads Backgrounds Borders stamp set which they unfortunately no longer carry. I then stamped one of the gorgeous flower stamps from the Blockheads Botanical Silhouettes stamp set in the Rusty Hinge distress ink, then cut it out with a Spellbinders Petite Scalloped Ovals die and matted it on a slightly larger SB Petite Ovals die cut. I dyed some seam binding with the Rusty Hinge Distress ink, fashioned a bow and added a couple WOC flowers. I left the inside blank.

Recipe:
  • Gina K Designs Pure Luxury ivory cardstock; orange cardstock
  • Charmin
  • Lifestyle Crafts Polka Dots embossing folder
  • Blockheads Botanical Silhouettes stamp set
  • Ranger Dried Marigold, Wild Honey and Rusty Hinge distress inks
  • Spellbinders Petite Scalloped Ovals dies
  • Seam binding
  • Wild Orchid Crafts flowers

Friends

In the Splitcoast Stampers General Stamping Talk Forum, this card was chosen as a favorite for the week ending July 1, 2012 (post #64)!

Here is another DT inspiration project that I created last evening for the current Blockheads Paper Arts Challenge - Textured Paper with Embossing Folders Technique Blog Hop!

Visit the Blockheads Emboss Paper Technique page to see Leigh's tutorial for creating awesome backgrounds using TP and an embossing folder!

For my "Friends" note card, I used the Cuttlebug Stylized Flowers embossing folder with the TP for the background and sponged lilac and green Martha Stewart inks onto the flowers and stems/leaves and lightly around the surrounding areas. I used the beautiful "Friends" sentiment from the Blockheads Verses-Special Delivery stamp set, stamped in Memento Bamboo Leaves ink, cut with a Spellbinders Classic Ovals die and matted on a SB Scalloped Oval die cut. I cut a large butterfly with a die from the SB Fanciful Flight set and matted it on handmade paper so the wings look like they have veins. I added some antennae, bling on her abdomen, a butterfly trail, an organza bow and some pearls. I left the inside blank to write my own note.

Recipe:
  • Gina K Designs Pure Luxury white cardstock; purple and green cardstock
  • Handmade purple paper
  • Charmin
  • Blockheads Verses-Special Delivery stamp set
  • Memento Bamboo Leaves ink
  • Martha Stewart lilac and stem green inks
  • Spellbinders Classic Ovals, Scalloped Ovals and Fanciful Flight dies
  • Want2Scrap white pearl swirl flourish
  • White organza ribbon; tiny green flat-back pearls; purple gemstones; green shimmer brad

All Aboard

Here is another one of several DT inspiration projects that I created last evening for the current Blockheads Paper Arts Challenge - Textured Paper with Embossing Folders Technique Blog Hop!

Visit the Blockheads Emboss Paper Technique page to see Leigh's tutorial for creating awesome backgrounds using TP and an embossing folder!

For my all-occasion "Best Wishes" card, I used the Cuttlebug Candy Cane Stripes embossing folder with the TP for the background and sponged it with Ranger Antique Linen and Walnut Stain distress inks. I used the train and All Aboard sentiment stamps from the Blockheads Vintage Railway stamp set which I embossed with Versamark and Ranger clear embossing powder on dark brown cardstock. The Best Wishes sentiment on the inside is from the Blockheads Verses-Special Delivery stamp set. I did some matting with the dark brown cardstock and a distressed piece of manila file folder and attached them together with some bronze flat square eyelets that I had in my stash. I matted the stamped Best Wishes sentiment on the inside and stamped a railway lantern in the lower left corner with Memento Rich Cocoa ink. I tried to stay with a masculine theme for this card. It was difficult not using ribbon/bows and bling! :)

Recipe:
  • Gina K Designs Pure Luxury kraft and chocolate cardstock; manila file folder
  • Charmin TP
  • Cuttlebug Candy Cane Stripes embossing folder
  • Blockheads Vintage Railway stamp set
  • Versamark and Ranger clear embossing powder
  • Memento Rich Cocoa ink
  • Blockheads Verses-Special Delivery stamp set
  • Ranger Antique Linen and Walnut Stain distress inks
  • Twine; bronze flat square eyelets

I have two more DT inspiration projects for this technique challenge, all created with TP, embossing folders and Blockheads stamps, which I will post separately.

Just because...

I wasn't feeling well this morning and now that I'm able to venture out from the back side of the house, I have several DT inspiration projects to share with you that I created last evening for the current Blockheads Paper Arts Challenge - Textured Paper with Embossing Folders Technique Blog Hop! These wonderful creations are made with TP! Yep, you read it right - toilet paper! Come play with us! What a fun technique! My friend and design teammate, Leigh Snaith-Brunton, is hosting this challenge and has created some absolutely beautiful samples!

Visit the Blockheads Emboss Paper Technique page to see Leigh's tutorial for creating awesome backgrounds using TP and an embossing folder! To take our challenge the traditional way via your blog, create your own project, create a blog post that includes the link code below (this creates links to other participants) and submit your URL. To be fair to all participants, links that don't include the code will be removed. Be sure to submit your URL by June 21st for a chance to win a $25 Blockheads gift certificate! The winner will be selected by our design team.

Here's the link code:

<!-- end InLinkz script -->

There's another way to take our challenge if you don't have a blog, and that is via our Facebook group! You'll need to join if you're not already a member, then all you need to do is post an image of your project on the group's wall by June 21st. The Facebook winner will get to pick out any 4" x 5" set of Blockheads stamps on cling cushion, and there are some awesome stamps to choose from!

The first picture below shows all four backgrounds I created with the TP - before I started working on them. For my first card, in this post, I used the Cuttlebug Numbers Collage embossing folder for the background, sponged with Ranger Spun Sugar distress ink. For the focal image, I used one of the stamps from the awesome Lost Coast Designs stamp set - Dressforms. I did some paper piecing with a couple different shades of pink cardstock along with a small bit of coloring with an E51 Copic marker. I also used the Lost Coast Designs measuring tape border stamp across the bottom, embossed with Versamark and Ranger black embossing powder. The sentiment is from the Blockheads Verses-Feel Better stamp set. I added some gorgeous WOC flowers, a multi-looped bow with small safety pin and beads, a pink feather and some pink flat-back pearls. I left the inside blank to write my own note.

Recipe:
  • Gina K Designs Pure Luxury ivory and kraft cardstock; Hot Off The Press pink flower mirror cardstock; light and medium shades of pink cardstock

Blog Candy!

I've been MIA for almost a month now, as we closed on a house in the country and have spent the last several weekends moving! Uggghhhhhhh!! Haven't moved in 17 years and as far as I'm concerned, this is the last time! Hubby and I are in bliss... this is the most amazing house and property! I just hope that the former house sells in a reasonable amount of time, as we really don't relish the idea of two mortgages. But I am relatively settled in the new hobby room, so I'll be 'back in the saddle' and creating this weekend!

Now I have to boast about my great news! OMG - I'm SOOOO stoked! I've been following Scrappy Jan Designs for a while because she is an amazing paper artist, and I won some of her Follower's Candy! Woo-hoo! I have to be one of the most unlucky people in the world and to win some of Janny's amazing blog candy is a dream come true! I have to tell you that my hubby wins hundreds of dollars every week "dabbling" in scratch-offs and do you think I ever win ANYTHING??? You got it! NOPE!!

Okay, back to Scrappy Jan Designs... you have got to check out her blog - you will be totally amazed at her creations! Each and every one is a truly a Masterpiece! She has amazing talent!

Here is what I won! Did I mention how stoked I am?!

Candy includes:

Buttons
Paper Flowers
Magnolia Rubber Stamp
Ribbons
Fiskars Paper Edgers
Paper Bliss Frames
Fancy Pants Rub-Ons

Thank you so much, Janny! I will continue following you and your wonderful talent!

And thanks for stopping by - see you next time!
Hugs,
Leslie
