'Tis The Season

The theme for this week's Dutch Dare Card Challenge DDCC #193 is "Winter Wonderland" and is sponsored by the awesome Meljen's Designs! Come play with us! Every year, it seems that once Thanksgiving is over, the Christmas holidays are upon us in no time flat! We were given some awfully cute digis to play with for this challenge and I chose "Cozy Winter Mailbox" which I paper pieced using red, green and gold foil cardstock. I felt like a child all over again sitting here with my little scissors, glue pen and cardstock - cutting, gluing and lining things up just so-so! Can't tell you how much fun I had!

I started out with an all-white theme, except for the image, and soon decided it needed some red around the border and some red ribbon to compliment the colors in the scarf. Then that led to the green, red and white WOC flowers to compliment the white pearl spray and swirl and leaf die cuts. I built the "snow" up with multiple layers of Frosted Lace Stickles. The little gold mailbox even looks like metal, thanks to some matte fixative I sprayed on it to keep the inkjet printer ink from smearing. SCORE! ;)

Recipe:
  • Gina K Designs Pure Luxury White cardstock; Marco's red and green cardstock; Bazzill Basics Gold Foil cardstock
  • Meljen's "Cozy Winter Mailbox" digital image
  • Copics: E00/33/51
  • Spellbinders Classic Squares and Fleur de Lis Squares dies
  • Magnolia Doohickeys Swirl and Leaf dies
  • Frosted Lace and Gold Stickles
  • Mrs. Grossman's Christmas Card Captions
  • Wild Orchid Crafts flowers and pearl spray
  • Gold memory thread; wide red ribbon; tiny white flat-back pearls

Thanks so much for stopping by today - we'll see you next time! ;)
Hugs,
Leslie
