Thought you could use a lift

As a new member of the Dutch Dare DT, here's my first inspiration card for the Dutch Dare Card Challenge DDCC #145 - Use your favorite things - sponsored by The Stamping Boutique. It was great fun, as I have many, many favorite things I use when making cards, and this card features the colors green and yellow, Copics, Sakura stardust pen, Spellbinders dies, embossing folders, ribbon, flowers and bling! I used the adorable "Sweet Angel" digi image from The Stamping Boutique for my focal image! I used the direct ink-to-paper sponging technique on the embossed background, which was kind of neat!

Recipe:
  • Gina K Designs Pure Luxury white cardstock; yellow textured cardstock; dark green corrugated cardstock; gold mirror cardstock
  • Green polka dot paper from the Echo Park Dots and Stripes 6x6 paper pack
  • Sweet Angel digital image from The Stamping Boutique

  • Tim Holtz swirls embossing folder

Thank You

Well, now the hustle and bustle and Christmas is over with and we need to start thinking about those thank you cards. I did spend a little time in the scrap room this past weekend and got one of my thank you cards made using a sweeeeet Little Miss Muffet digi image named "Saffron." She is new and was a freebie last week - I was so lucky to have gotten her and couldn't wait to make a card with her! I dry embossed some already-embossed cardstock which was kind of neat, and used some digital paper.

I'm entering "Thank You" into the following challenges:

Birthday Blessings

I love shaker cards but I just don't take the time (usually) to make them. But I did this weekend! They really are a lot simpler than they seem. For this card, I used an adorable Little Miss Muffet digi called "Adela and Dida" and used lots of bling on the flourishes along with Marble Shazam Rox gemstones on the focal image itself. I cut out two of the wings to make the shaker, and filled it with sparkly purple and gold seed beads. It turned out so cute!

Dutch Dare Card Challenge DT

Woo-hoo! I've been selected for the Dutch Dare Card Challenge Design Team! We've been given the go-ahead to announce it on our blogs, so here I go! I am super-duper excited and very honored to join this amazing DT! Our term is open-ended (I'm afraid they're stuck with me for a while)... with two teams alternating weeks - which will be pretty awesome! It really feels good to inspire other crafters to create! A huge thanks and a hug to Kelly, the DDCC creator, for giving me this awesome chance! I'm really looking forward to this! :)

Congratulations

It seems like the days are just flying by! It's so hard to believe it's Christmas and this year is almost over! Let's embrace 2012! We can't do much else, right?! :)  It's been several days since I've been in the scrap room - there just aren't enough hours in the day to get everything done I want to do! This card was very simple and relaxing, and best of all... it wasn't a holiday card!

Holly Jolly Christmas (by Gigi)

**SPECIAL MENTION WITH PRIZE**
CRAFT CHALLENGE 133
WOO-HOO! WAY TO GO, GIGI!

I'm as proud as I can be to show off my 8-year-old granddaughter's first challenge card! Gigi is a crafty little thing just like her Grammy! She made a card to leave for Santa, with his cookies and milk, on Christmas Eve! She colored an adorable Sugar N Spice digi image from Jen's Digi Stamps for the the front and made hidden pocket that she tucked a removable tag in (with a Christmas heart) made just for Santa! She even decorated the inside and included her Christmas Wish List! We had some fun this weekend!

Gigi is entering "Holly Jolly Christmas" into the following challenges:

Christmas Wishes wallets

Well, she's done it again... Gina of StampTV has created the easiest gift card holder and the tutorial is on StampTV's website for all to see and be inspired to create! I normally create my own designs, but I did use Gina's base gift card holder design. I love them - I created four little wallets in about 30 minutes! Gina gives the measurements of all the pieces and once they are cut, it's a breeze assembling them! What fun! I'm going to give my kids and their significant others cash in these adorable little treasures and used the cutest Ho Ho Ho paper (with matching/coordinating plaid paper) - two in red and two in green - from my stash along with a digital "Christmas Wishes" sentiment I created on my computer and cut out with a Spellbinders die. And they don't have to be just for the holidays... they can be for any occasion!

Get Well Wishes

I've been at since early (and I mean early) this morning and I need to get some things done around the house, so this will be it for a few hours anyway! Hehehe! I know it's the holidays and I've made several holiday cards, so I switched it up a little and made a get well card. It's so nice to give someone a bright and cheery - although monochromatic in this case - card to cheer them up! And a little ribbon and bow never hurts either! Definitely not very masculine, though! And I stamped on tissue paper which is something I've never done before, but it turned out kind of neat!

Thinking of You

I really love the vintage look, I guess because I could be considered vintage myself! Hahahaha! I remember when I was in the first grade, we were studying fossils, and I asked my Dad if I could take him to school for show and tell! Thank goodness he had a wonderful sense of humor! That reminds me, too, of when my daughter was about 5 or 6, she asked me if everything was black and white when I was a child! Fortunately, I have my Dad's sense of humor! At any rate, I thoroughly enjoyed putting this card together - it started my day off perfectly! I even dyed my ribbon to match the card!

Paper Roses Bouquet

The paper roses bouquet I made several months ago for my granddaughter to give to her mother (my daughter) for Mother's Day has come up in conversation several times over the last couple weeks, so I decided to post some pictures. It really did turn out beautiful, and my daughter was just tickled! She still has them proudly displayed in her living room!

I got my inspiration from watching the paper roses tutorial on Card Making Magic. Christina does a wonderful job of teaching and makes everything look so easy! You really need to go to her site and just look around, but make sure you have plenty of time because there's plenty to look at! It's pretty awesome! :)

Recipe:
  • Two bunches of silk roses from local craft store, 8 roses on each bunch (carefully remove silk roses and attach paper ones)
  • 1-3/8" round punch to create a five-petal template
  • Plenty of paper scraps in all different colors and patterns
  • Vase
  • Flat stones to fill vase and hide rose stems
  • Ribbon

STANDARD CARD CHALLENGE

Got to spend some quality time with my daughter last night and this morning - talking girl talk and watching movies! It was fantastic! After she left, I headed into the scrap room for a little fun. Ahhhh... I'm lovin' life! For my distressed tea bag holder (my sister loves tea), I used the cutest little snowman image - Sugar in a gift box - from Jen's Digi Stamps which I made dimensional and layered on two Spellbinders die-cut deckled rectangles. I used some fabulous striped and dotted paper and even did a little stitching! I need to sew more on my creations - it adds a little zing!

For you

Well, I've been at it again this morning! I went to bed last night with all kinds of ideas running through my head for a way to wrap a gift card and use a tag... and I think my wallet (aka gift card holder) turned out pretty neat - it kind of has a vintage feel to it! It's done in kraft, red and brown, with an embossed dimensional flower mounted on a die-cut circle, faded background text watermark on brown cardstock, some very cool hemp ribbon/bow and a tag attached with a tiny ball chain! OMG! Too much fun! I also tried a new bleaching technique on this project I saw on a StampTV tutorial, which I really enjoyed!

Thanks for everything

I'm feelin' good! I got a lot accomplished today - stamping, scrapping, more stamping, more scrapping and laundry - while my hubby worked. I almost felt guilty that I was playing while he was working, but I did get all the laundry done, so that made up for it! ;) I really, really like the way this card turned out! I love pink and black together, and I love butterflies - and this one looks like she's fluttering right off the card! I used two awesome black and white papers from the GKD Basic Wardrobe digital paper pack, five of my trusty Spellbinders dies (I don't think I could live without them!), plus I got some Copics coloring practice! I love making thank-you cards because I appreciate the nice things that people do, and I love to show it by wowing them with an awesome card!

I'm entering "Thanks for everything" into the following challenge:

Joy

Woo-hoo! I found some time today to make a couple cards! It's been about a week and a half, and I've been jones-ing to scrap! Hahaha! It's definitely winter here in north Florida, and although it's not snowing, it was pretty chilly here this morning - in the low 40s - when we got up. This cool weather definitely got me in the mood to make a holiday card! I used some awesome StoryRock red "Christmas Snow" digital paper (embellished with some Stickles to get the look and feel of snowflakes), my favorite two Spellbinders dies and an adorable Gina K Designs "Joy" digi - a freebie - that I colored with Bic Mark-It markers. I had a good ole' time!
